Done, and added suppressors to their letter. "Rep. Marshall’s bill undoes the egregiously unconstitutional registration, taxation, and regulation of short-barreled rifles and noise suppression devices (suppressors), by removing them from the National Firearms Act (NFA) and forcing the ATF to destroy all related records".

It's a great idea, but unfortunately will not pass. The SCOTUS has already determined that suppressors aren't bearable firearms nor necessary for the operation of a firearm so they are not protected by the 2nd amendment. They have also ruled that any tax on them is legal, even if it produces negligible revenue. This case even covers that states can not allow for the manufacture and sale of NFA items (suppressors) even if they remain inside of state borders without NFA registry and the tax paid.

Which is bizarre because they are included in their very own definition of "firearms" in the NFA.

The Act defines “firearm” to include, among other items, shortbarreled shotguns, short-barreled rifles, machineguns, bombs, grenades, and silencers.
