Did my part to help the overpopulation of does.
DMAP doe taken tonight.
.243 WSSM AR platform. 55 grain Nosler, 160 yds, 4170fps.
Took a high shoulder shot and it anchored her on the spot.
We have to weigh each and pull a jaw for the biologists. 121 lbs.

Great job, Dennis! I am looking at making an .243 WSSM upper to play with. Do you load all your own for this? I will get my reloading setup put back together eventually, but I will have a steep learning curve, I only learned the basics before I had to dismantle it.

<edit> I'm also eyeballing that 6.5CM Savage @08H3 is selling. So many options...

I plan on sitting out quite a bit that week. Keeping an eye out for coyotes mostly.

Same here. We have taken several doe this year already. I could use maybe one more for summer sausage and a few more blackstrap steaks, and a lady friend said she might need one more to feed her teenage boys this year. So my daughter and I will take one more each, if the right ones come out....but if a coyote shows himself, he is primary target #1.

I handload everything. Had to buy factory loaded ammo in 2008 when buying the first upper to get brass for reloading. Brass got in short supply over the years but Winchester made a run of new brass last year so I bought 400 rounds which should last my lifetime.
Doc's gun shop in Pryor had loaded ammo last fall. Doc got ahold of me knowing that was my preferred caliber to see if I needed any.
One thing about the .243 WSSM, you pretty much will require the upper be built. There is no dust cover and the ejection port has to be milled out for the short fat cartridge. The BCG requires some machining as well. Ditech and Accuracy systems Inc are the two builders right now that I'm aware of. I have one of each, and much prefer Ditech.
