Thanks for all the replies.......it looks like the Excalibur brand is well thought of so I'm looking at those on Amazon.

I was thinking about a five tray model but then I found that Amazon has a nine tray for less than what a five tray was going to run me.

Mdl. 2900ECB (with the fan in the back) = $179.95 shipped.

Whatcha think, look like a pretty good deal ?

I think you’ll be happy with the Excalibur, I have the nine tray, and can fit more in it than I could in 2 of the round style

That’s the one I’ve had for about 15 or more years. I used it for jerky for 3-4 years and got bored with making my own. The last 5 it has seen duty for drying brass after wet tumbling and drying guns and other items after ultrasonic cleaning.

They are good units!

I had that exact same dehydrator. It took FOREVER. This year, my wife bought a Nesco FD-75A, $61 shipped on Amazon. It has a small fan that circulates the air. It only takes a few hours per batch. The best part?? My wife does it ALL.

We have the Nesco with fan in the top and adjustable temps. Takes 6-10 hours to do jerky depending on thick it's sliced.
For all of you that have dehydrators, put some bacon in it and let it dry the bacon for something different. You can thank me later.
