I just caught the tail end of the News 9 story. Suspect is claiming self defense and it seemed that an attorney was interviewed by news 9 making the claim.
Self defense or not. My understanding is that Penn Square is a “NO GUN” zone. He will get the book thrown at him for having the gun in the first place.
I don't think so. Unless Penn Square Mall is owned by the city, carrying in such a place as a mall is not against the law. The law only states that private enterprises, etc., may prohibit bearing guns in their places of business. If you are caught, all they can do is ask you to leave. If you don't leave, you can be arrested and charged with trespassing.
