Heard a dad and son at the WalMarts the other day discussing shooting (deer, I assumed) and the son (teenager) was telling his dad he'd much rather have a 30-06, and the dad said, "No, a .223 is perfectly fine for anything under 150 yards." I nearly choked. He thinks that's all the .223 is good for? I didn't hear the rest of the convo or the gist of the general context, but that statement alone made me just internally shake my head and keep walking.
I wouldn’t take a shot further than 100 yards with my 16” ar15 in 223 on a deer, I would really prefer it to be closer, a coyote would be a different story.
