Colt had a media day at Gunsite a few weeks ago and it was said on facebook by a Gunsite employee who attended that Colt was introducing some new models. When asked directly about a Python it was not confirmed or denied. It was kinda wait and see.

The question about the Python was “stand by to stand by”.

Watch American Rifleman TV on 01/01/2020 maybe. It was filmed at Gunsite.

We were told all will be revealed on 01/01/2020.

I'll take my Freedom Arms revolvers over any Colt. I know its single action vs. double but any Freedom Arms gun will literally shoot into the same hole, the fit and finish is second to none in my book and I've never seen a revolver built any tighter. They can be bought on the used market for a lot less than a Python or an Anaconda a lot of the time.
For hunting or plinking sure, but you’d get smoked every time by a decent revolver man out of combat leather

Never seen a Colt Python in "combat leather."

Years ago I went to the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco.
Back then they had a crap load of Colt 1911s and Pythons, carried by old-time Rangers, on display.

I ain't a lawman and I say carry what you like.
But for me personally, the juice didn't seem to be worth the squeeze, even back when the Python was still in production and the price tags weren't through the roof like today.

That's the point I'm eluding to. Larger revolvers generally are used for hunting and plinking nowadays.
A Python is not a large revolver compared to a freedom arms revolver which was the comparison I was making. a python is what, Comparable or maybe just a bit smaller than an L-frame?
A 686 in a 2-4” barrel ain’t losing much at all if any, in a one on one gunfight
