Wow... if guns had been prohibited in church (like they are in Arkansas), who knows how many more people would have died?

What a moron.

But then the killer wouldn't have bothered to go in with a gun . . . right? Since they're prohibited in Arkansas churches.

Can't believe folks are out there trying to push the idea that all because of this guy's background he's a completely different type of gun owner and shouldn't be used to justify folks carrying for protection.

They're also going with he was a "security guard" and not an armed member of the church . . .

If you want to get the BP up just go read this idiot's takes . . . https://twitter.com/bschapiroMD

Yep. I know there are a LOT of churches that don't have paid, licensed armed security. It doesn't matter what current or past certifications you have in your CV. If you're there to attend church services in an unpaid status, you are first and foremost a church-goer and citizen first responder.

God forbid I ever have to shoot someone, I don't want the narrative to be that I am former law enforcement, former Marine or former sport shooting champion. I am a citizen with an SDA permit and operating under that alone. Hopefully the aforementioned experience and training will aid in being as effective and safe as humanly possible, but I'm still just a guy going about my business and hope I never have to be in a situation like this one.

Prayers to the families in that Church, especially the victims and the responder who took care of business.

Trying to learn from the situation since I sit in church many Sundays thinking about the possibility of this happening. Would the first guy who was standing and attempting to draw have stood a better chance had he attempted to draw while seated? Idk. I’ve thought about it since long before this happened and have decided that if possible I will have my weapon ready when I stand up and draw attention. I hope I don’t sound rude second guessing what the guy did and maybe it wouldn’t have mattered but I believe there may always be something to learn.

Always something to be learned... me and a friend of mine were discussing the video last night and how some of the responding members were doing things that were not only tactically unsound but also potentially quite dangerous to bystanders. Things like sweeping their weapon over non-combatants, etc.

It's not talking bad about them, and I am sure with adrenaline and fear, things would be crazy, but it's just about learning from every situation.
