I we walk out of Iraq, we just gave Iran a whole other country to play in, as well as all the oil it contains.

Don't get any illusions Iran has any problem with overrunning Iraq in any way to get the oil and infrastructure we've spent the last 20 years working on... Also gives them control of land on both sides of the Gulf.

Disaster in the making.

There IS no good answer.

We're not pulling out. Iran just hit US air bases in Iraq. The potential for this to escalate is pretty high.

Proof of your statement is that Solomani flew into Baghdad on a commercial flight, got into an SUV and was not challenged by any immigration authorities nor stopped by any Iraq authorities. He had open access to the country, and likely its leadership.
I've said it before and will say it again. We should have treated Iraq like we did Japan and Germany after WW II.
Take over the government and put in one like ours and monitor it for years and years to keep it on track.
I realize the tribalism of that place that has been in place for centuries, but with an iron fist, it could be turned around.
Afghanistan is sitting on a world fortune of rare minerals that never been exploited because the tribes don't know how, relying on dates and heroin as a cash crop.
Change the culture to an economy invested in bringing those metals to the open market is the success that country needs to look at.
