A couple years ago I cooked some oyster mushrooms I found and took them to work a buddy of mine has been obsessed with finding some ever since he took off the rest of the week and found some today after two years of searching and he brought me a plastic bag full

They are great eating, and now is the time to find them. Way more common than finding morels imo too. They sell starter kits that actually produce if you want to grow your own.

I have found them on a few different kinds of trees.
Sometimes i find them on rotted fallen trees and other times they could be on a live tree from 2" off the ground to 10 feet in the air.
One thing in common in the places I find them there are many trees... like dense packed areas where light has a little bit of an issue getting in.
My buddy has got about a 10 gallon bucket of them this year.
I did once find some at lexington shooting range the south range on the south bank.. there was a dead stump of a tree and grass was a bit tall.
That was the most out in the open batch i ever found.
