Annual elk hunting trip to the Merino Valley in New Mexico
Spotted a herd of 40 cow elk
Had to climb up a ways, but couldn't get any closer than 590 yards. 5 of us lined up, counted 1,2,3, bang!
3 killed instantly, two wounded and finished off. Then the work began.....
I skinned 2.5 of the elk with the Mike Miller knife that I won last year, and it was still sharp afterwards.

For some reason, probably because I’m using my phone, the pics are in reverse sequence.
The second pic from the bottom is where we took the shot. I marked up the pic to show where a couple guys were field dressing the elk.
Second pic from the top, is how we used the winch on my 4 wheeler along with a snatch block on the trailer to winch the elk up on the trailer.
