I guess I got mixed up with the comments of the actor doing a really good job playing a nitwit and thinking the movie was really good. I rented it based on my misconception the other day from Redbox and personally didn’t really care for. The jokers always been a criminal thug robber that transformed into the joker and in this one it’s more sympathetic to a person with special needs that is supposedly down trodden by the system and the rich. The jokers always been a criminal thug robber that transformed into the joker. In This Version the guy is harassed by his coworkers. Then he gets set up Buy a coworker which leads up to and then results in him being fired from his job. This Joker is a person with special needs, has mental health issues, not sure if it’s the medications or all him but he also has the illusion of fake companionship, the denial of reality, and is supposedly downtrodden by the system and the rich.

The guy is dealt a raw hand in life. Personally I think the movie sucked. The movie depicts a man who is beat up after some kids steal his sign. Then in a similar seen he is on a Subway. He scares a girl off from his laughter that’s being harassed by three young delinquents. The delinquents annoyed that he scared of the girl then commences to beating the crap out of him. He then shoots them. Somehow he becomes a vigilantes cult like symbol for the city that people start connecting with.

Do you really think the Joker is someone who is just a normal guy who robs occasionally?
C'mon man. The Joker has always been mentally deranged. He's not the cheesey 60's tv character.

This movie depicts an average citizen that is a nitwit with special needs that transforms into the joker. This guy isn’t a criminal to begin with. Previous versions of the joker is a man who is a criminal that gets disfigured and then becomes the joker. This version even takes the guilt off of killing Bruce Wayne’s father and mother because this is the first Joker villain that didn’t do it. Case of mistaken identity. The movie as I see it is a liberals view of poor me for a bad guy. Trying to understand him and why he does what he does. That it’s the System that made him.

Pretty sure I didn’t miss it. It sucked hard-core

I always took the joker as a criminal that was in a mob like as in a gang that became the joker. Not like in this wishy-washy story BS movie of a retard with special needs.

I haven't seen (nor do I intend to see) the movie, but I have heard a discussion or two about it, and one of the theories behind the movie is that this is an origin story, but not a direct origin story. That is, he isn't really the Joker; rather, he is the inspiration for the criminal who would eventually become the Joker.

What you heard of it being a origin movie is basically correct. An Origin movie of sorts that justifies why he is as he is. Be glad you saved the hour and a half plus of your life that you wouldn’t get back. I kept on waiting for it to get good and it never did.

I don't know whether it was an origin story or what, but Joaquin Phoenix did one heck of a good job portraying a troubled soul who went off the deep end. I guess if one is a hard-core Batman fan, the Joker is one thing. But this wasn't a Batman movie, it's not about Batman's Joker.

I thought it was a great movie, depicting a sad guy, a loser in life, trying to make it as a stand up comic, yet relegated to life as a rent-a-clown...and not a very good one at that. His descent into madness is remarkably well done. The guy deserves an Oscar for Best Actor, IMO. He stole the show with his performance, clearly.
