That's how my hunting has been going too. That or camera issues.
I’ve had opportunities. I blew a few and it’s my own fault. Got winded plenty, missed with the ML,passed on a couple during rifle. The best take-away is that the buck population was not hurt at all on my lease. One of the guys kids shot a forky but it was his first deer. My son shot an 8 that we wished he hadn’t but looking back it wasn’t a bad deer. Still a few days...

Finally connected on this guy yesterday evening. We had been seeing him on and off all season. Apparently the two hunters next to me did too because they set up their ground blinds right across the fence about 40 yards under my stand. What a couple of dikk$. I have tried to make friends

with them for the last 15 years, but apparently they think they own the whole county and all of the deer in it. They are really stupid, there's enough BIG deer for everyone and I'd rather be friends that not. Anyway, I set up my blind up the trail from them and cut this guy off. I was gonna put my gut pile on my side of the fence right by their blinds but I was just too tired last night. The shot was a little low and far back, but hey it was windy and 70 yards away. It all worked out.

I had the chance to hunt Saturday but with the wind, I opted for yesterday. Bad move. Terrible idea. I knew I should've hunted at least Saturday afternoon...

I did see 5 does and two little bucks on both the morning and evening hunts. The little bucks were pushing the does around half heartedly.

Saturday ended up being a beautiful day in the afternoon, especially on the west side of I-35. I was wising I hadn’t made “bad weather plans” with the family so I could have got some coyote calling in. Oh well. Seems you missed out more than I did.

If you don’t get him by EOD Wednesday, you ought to do some shed hunting and see what that guy grows into next season.
