I’ve never had anything bad to say about Nikon but I’ll never buy another one. Just cuz I doubt they’ll really try to give top notch customer service for a product they no longer make. Just my opinion on the subject.

I had not heard this.

I have a few mid level Nikon scopes that I really like. Dice as my M300 with the illuminated reticle.

If the price was right, I would by another and take a chance on long-term warranty.

I like the P series just fine, but it's hard to beat the Monarch series in the sub-$1k range. Great optics. Not sure about service and what not, I've never had a problem with one.

I have multiple Nikon scopes. I can say its one if not the only brand I own I never have had to send in for repair. I have always thought in their market they had the best glass dollar for dollar. Their warranty does require you have the warranty card and receipt. They never went to the full on warranty everything from anybody like Vortex, Athlon, Bushnell and others have gone to. I also have Nikon bino's and DSLR cameras again no issues ever. Its all worked as it should.

The last scope I bought was end of last year I got a Nikon X1000 right before I knew they were stopping making scopes. I have heard they will continue to service and warranty their scopes. Will that change in 2 or 3 years possibly. IMO if there is a scope you want and you can get a deal on it. I would have no issue taking a chance on it even if the warranty goes away in a few years. If you somehow do get a dud or doa scope. I would think for the next year you would be fine to get it replaced under warranty.

One other thing, some scope manufactures have thread after thread about how great their service is. To me that is telling that so many folks are experienced with their service. The fact you don't see Nikon service threads everywhere speaks to its own right imo.

I own primarily Nikon Monarchs with a couple Buckmasters on cheap guns.
I’ve beat them to death by falling on trails, etc.
once I set zero on them, never have to adjust it again.
I’d look for some Monarchs at Buckmaster prices and never look back.

People buy old Tasco Japan scopes..No warranty on them but they feel it is a good scope that should not give them any trouble.
I have an old Redfield made in Oregon scope..it is dead.
Company left what to do.
EEEHHH it was purchased in 1974 and I removed it from the gun 5 years ago.
It had a good life.
I have a few of those 3-9x40 $99 Nikons and I like them. No issues and they have been dropped and stepped on and soaked in the rain Oldest one is 5 years old Guess what it replaced.
