I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Nikon scope, especially if it's a good clearance deal. I think there's a good chance they'll honor the warranty for the foreseeable future, and there's a very good chance you'll never have a problem with it anyway.

Here, but occasionally There.
Like others here, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, if I had a real need for one.

Like someone else mentioned, I also have Nikon cameras and about 5 or 6 of their lenses. If you were to go study the history of Nikon, if I remember right, they started out making optics rather than cameras. They even made a lot of the optics used by the Japanese navy in WWII. (If you search "Nikon history" at YouTube, you can find a good number of videos about their history.)

When I decided to get back into SLR cameras with interchangeable lenses, I chose Nikon because at the time they were considered to have the best lenses of all the manufacturers. I've never regretted making that decision. The one problem that I've had with a Nikon lens was not with its clarity, but with issues only photographers would likely be concerned about.

I own a few and would not hesitate to buy another if I found a good deal. Not one problem whatsoever with any of the ones I own. I expect they'll outlive me!

I found this info on the warranty so far...

From Nikon:

We wanted to make you aware of a change that will take place regarding Nikon Inc.’s Sport Optics product warranty program. After review, we have decided to make some program adjustments that will require changes to in-store, online and other marketing materials.

PROGRAM CHANGE: Nikon Inc.’s product warranty is changing from the current product warranty to the following:
Lifetime limited warranty for the optical system of Binoculars, Fieldscopes and Riflescopes;
Seven-year limited warranty for non-optical system components of Binoculars, Fieldscopes and Riflescopes;
One-year limited warranty for electrical components of Binoculars, Fieldscopes and Riflescopes.

The Five-year limited warranty on all components for Rangefinder and Red Dot/Reflex sight products remains the same.

Please note that going forward we are ending our No-Fault Repair Policy. Therefore, the new warranty program will not apply to any SRO product that is subjected to misuse, alteration or accident or for damage caused from unauthorized replacement parts, will require consumer proof of purchase from an authorized dealer/reseller and will not be transferable from one consumer to another.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Nikon scope. I have both the Spur and P tactical superdot red dot sights and have no problems with them. The superdot to my eye has clearer glass than the Vortex Sparc AR. Might have to buy an actual riflescope soon.

I've got a Monarch 4-16x42 BDC that's done everything I've asked of it. It's a very good hunting scope and tracks great. The only problem is, I don't have a rifle to put it on.
