Have you shot one? Mine has close to 1000 rounds thru it with about 5 malfunctions. 90% of it has been Federal 36gr bulk pack. Must be really cold where this video was made with those gloves and coat. I’d be curious where his right thumb is on that grip. If I’m not careful I tend to ride the slide release with mine.

That slide release issue seems to happen with alot more people than are willing to admit. I see it all the time with first time glockers, and more than a few experts. Not for me though, my thumbs are quite short.

New Glock 44 - A peach or a lemon?

I am seriously surprised this fella hasn't signed up here and posted all 27 of his G44 videos. He has an all out assault on GT and ARF posting the same 3,000 word post to every person who says their gun runs good. Then he throws in how much he has spent on his G44 and how amazing his TX22 is along with his videos at every opportunity.

Reality is a 3rd Kaboom showed up yesterday. So I think there are 3 Kabooms and 1 or 2 verified ejector issues. Original guy whos blewup posted yesterday that Glock is sending him a new gun and he already bought a second G44 and it happy with them. Glock has some issues with this gun. They shouldn't be blowing up. I wish we know how many were in the wild to get some better perspective.

Biggest issue so far was the way over promised. They wanted people to think a G44 would run like a center fire pistol. With bulk ammo being as varied as it is with light loads and ftf. They made a promise that I don't think they or anyone could ever keep. The reality is my G44 and a lot of folks that own them have a good running 22lr pistol that is super fun. If you take into account that most 22 pistols you need to find what they like like to eat. Then your probably going to be in good shape with a G44 like anything else.

@Mad Professor having issues with changing sites and adding fractions of an once to the slide causing issue, well that is problematic also. I have no doubt Glock will get this gun right. How long it will take that's a good question. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see the mags get updated to deal with the first round tipping down. But I have a 1911-22 and a P22 that both can have rounds get stupid if you don't pay attention. I think with any gun if you aren't paying attention while loading the rounds you asking for trouble.

I didn’t have an issue changing sights. Mine has an Ameriglo front and stock rear blacked out. Mine runs great with the very occasional 22 ammo issue shooting Federal bulk pack.

Aries the S&W 41 is too costly and not hi-cap enough. I have one friend that has one that has never dependable since new. I wish I had kept my Beretta 89 Gold Standard. It ran like a top.

My results were very much like his in the video.

The guns prefer round nose ammo to ensure it does not hang up in the magazine or the feed ramp. If it hangs on the feed ramp it damages the nose of the hollowpoint.

The problems increased as I moved to standard velocity ammo. CCI SV ran much better than Aguila or Federal.

The issues increased with the added weight of the aftermarket sights. In SV ammo, CCI became marginal. Aguila and Federal has frequent issues. In HV the Agulia became marginal.

With the aftermarket sights on both guns. The full-size Dawson on one gun and the 42/43 Dawson rear on the other, they have ran like a top through several hundred rounds. I now have an extra pair of sights to make them both carry full-size Dawson rears. I hope to get these swapped out and start running some more test rounds through them in the next few days.

The 44s are like most other .22s I’ve shot. You have to test and find what ammo the gun seems to like. In some cases modifications of the gun was required.

The added sight weight issue was the most shocking thing for me. But the recoil spring on this gun is pretty stiff. It appears to have the same spring rate as my Gen 4 19. I even installed the RSA from the 44 into the 19 to see how the spring felt (non-firing). My non-precision method of sling shorting the slide with my thumb and pinky, tells me they are pretty close in rate. I’m sure to help positively feed the rounds, they chose to keep a heavier spring rate an lighten the slide to make it function.

I’m most disappointed with Glock on their marketing and reveal promotion talking about all the different ammo it was tested with and how many rounds were fired. But they also revealed they lowered the normal Glock standards and obtained other manufacturers guns to test. So instead of Glock “perfection” they settled on doing better than the other guns on the market. You can argue individual samples one way or the other.

I’ll keep running the guns with around nose 40 grain ammo. The CCI MiniMag 40g CPRN works almost flawlessly. I still want to find something with a tad bit less recoil that runs 100% with the heavier sights. But I’m more than happy to settle with the CCI 40g ammo and use the same sights as my other GSSF guns. I’m going to measure recoil a bit as part of the ammo selection process if time allows.

Until then I have some more ammo to vet and test.

I bought a new one today. I'm the guy who is never impressed until something is proven, then I try and buy on the secondary market. I handled one and had to have it. I carry a Glock every day in some form or fashion and the G44's dimensions are nearly identical to the G19. I'll figure out what ammo it needs and go from there. Threaded barrels are already on the market and someone will be along shortly with a "high cap" magazine and as soon as they do, I'm not gonna go out and buy one. And a G19 top end will not fit on the G44, but a G17/19 mag will.

When you say "barrels", have you seen any aftermarket threaded yet? I've been holding out to see how long it takes for Alpha Wolf to have one.
