Oh boy some guys shooting adult cartridges. Can I join this conversation?

I shoot a 416 Barnes which is a predecessor to the .416 Taylor (Chatfield-Taylor). Gun is built on a 98 Mauser Action and as far as we can tell actually built by Barnes. It is a tack driving rifle.

My favorite however is My Greener Martini 577/500 BPE Express.

I don't shoot black powder in it-use Varget and Woodleigh 650 gr RNSN.

Sighted it in for a Moose hunt in 2017. I was still on Blood thinners. Recoil is heavy, just short of brutal. You don't want to shoot this gun prone and from the bench it hurts. Best to shoot them from a standing bench if you have one or a standing tripod.

Didn't get to use the gun on a moose used my .338/06 Ackley. I am going to take it Elk hunting this fall.

I had a chance to buy 4 bore ROAH last fall. I identified this gun for IMA when I visited them. They thought it was a Rampart gun. I was on a trip and decide to buy it. When I got home the gun had already sold. I should have got on the phone and called them. I did shoot a 4 bore on that trip. This one is a rampart gun.

Yes I have number of Martini's, but only 4 true Big sporters- This Greener 577/500 BPE, I.Hollis 45O Musket #2, A Barnsley 577/450 and a Unknown maker in .450 Musket #2 that I am rebuilding.

Plenty of MH's various small actions and a shotgun.

Oh just remembered there is one more big gun being built. 577 2- 3/4 NE on a Greener Shotgun action. This is one of those gunsmith projects I bought from customers over the years to do in my retirement. Retirement is here and I have arthritis in my hands and a lack of desire to mess with that Greener action.

So today I learned the Hornady solids are a heavy steel jacket that's been copper washed..
I've only shot soft points up to this point but thought these were interesting.

Prior to going to Zim in 2000, I did quite a bit of research on bullets to decide what to load for buffalo. I learned the Hornady solid was built to Weatherby's specs for loading in their factory .460 Weatherby Mag ammo. That was then; this is now. Don't know if what you have falls into that category or not.
