At worst, animal control should have been brought in. Capture, determine if chipped, returned to owner if chipped. No chip? See if at least domesticated, put up for adoption. If feral, see if ASPCA or other organizations willing to spay/neuter and release back to wild. Euthanize if infected or diseased. No reason to shoot it just because its there...

These that are arguing about "have a heart"/why did she "kill the cat", might have been a feral cat,
Might also be the same type that have no problem doing the same treatment to a opossum, or squirrel, or armadillo.

If the animal is causing a problem, get rid of it.
Unless it is a nice fluffy cat that is friendly & rubbing up against your legs, then that is a different story.

Normally I stay away from what will be a 20 page thread. I have to ask though what is the difference in killing a cat and killing a opossum? Just because people domesticate cats doesn't mean other people don't eat them. Some people domesticate opossums and squirrels. Ferrel cats carry disease like any other wild animal. If your not okay with shooting a cat are you okay with shooting a deer what about a hog? If these people were so worried about the cat why didn't someone take it home? This is coming from a guy that has a daughter that has rescued 5 kittens in the last 4 years and has one living in my home. Still I fully understand the most worthless human is much more valuable than any animal.

My son and DIL took in some feral cats that somebody prolly dumped on their land. Took 'em to the vet for shots and spay/neuter both. One disappeared and the other is fine. Had them a few years now.
