Two most popular under $100 are Larue MBTs and Rise RA-140 both are great triggers both have large followings. The MBT comes in single or two stage. Yes they are worth it.

What are you wanting it for? If your wanting competition then you can spend more money for a trigger better than the ones listed above. If your just tired of crappy mil-spec any of the above should make you very pleased.

I've only ever had experience with one, it came on a rifle I bought off of someone. It's a JMT saber, and I really like it. It's a 3.5 pound trigger that brakes like glass, they can be had for around 85$ if you look hard enough. I have heard good things about Rise armament and MBT also. I also know of people liking AIM surplus triggers. For a little more money I have been really curious about viper triggers by Timney, they roll in at 150.

I have both, the Rise Armament RA-140 which is a single stage with no take up or slack, just a crisp break at 3.5 lbs., and the LaRue Tactical MBT that is a two stage 2.5 + 2 lbs. with the first stage feeling just like the take up on most triggers before you hit the wall, then a light pull from there to release the hammer. It also comes with a heavier spring that will increase the overall pull to 6 pounds.

IMO, the LaRue is too light for a self defense gun so I have it on my range/hunting rifle. For me the RA-140 makes a better trigger for my SD set up.

I got the RA for around $90 at Brownells on sale and I have seen them for a little less here and there sometimes. I got the LaRue for $70 plus a couple of dollars for shipping because we did a small group buy and got the five trigger discount. They are usually $80 plus shipping. I think they are both worth the money.

There are triggers that are a little heavier if you prefer in the 4.5-6 lb. range but much better than milspec.

Agree with every post above ^^^^ I have the RA-140 on two rifles, JP on two and Timneys on several others of the higher target grade. All excellent triggers. one of the reasons I have the Timney's is because I got a distributors discount on them that put them at the same price as cheaper triggers priced at retail which are just about as good. The JP triggers are a field of their own. Not drop in, and they have to be tuned.
Timney just came out with a sport trigger that is competing in price with the RA-140. I just installed one for a friend last week that took about 15 minutes. The Timney design doesn't require no-walk pins for installation. Some of the other drop in triggers do. Pay attention to what you order.

For the record, the Larue MBT is not a "drop in trigger".... it installs the same way a milspec trigger does, sans the disconnector.
Now, having that out of the way, you just need to decide how much money you want to spend.

AR Gold, Hyperfire and Timney are some of the best triggers I've tried, but you're gonna have to empty your wallet.

Rise RA-140 and CMC both have very nice triggers that still allow you to buy dinner on the way home.

Non drop in, the Larue MBT is quite nice. Just takes some getting used to with the 2 stage setup.
