So I have established that I want to build a dissipator that is free floated, but I'm not 100% clear on how to make that happen. I have never built an upper, but I understand how. If the handguard goes over the end of the barrel to to attach to the upper, how does it get around the front sight block? Do you attach the FSB after the handguard? If so how do you attach the gas tube with the guard already in place? Or would you use a low profile gas block in carbine or mid length then pin on a dummy fsb at the end? Sorry if this isn't clear. So for reference, how do you make the upper in these pictures?
