I recently purchased a small picatinny rail that attaches via m-lok. I want the add a bottom rail for a bipod to my current handguard (a daniel defense v5). I got the handguard off, attached the rail, attached the bipod, then went to put the handguard back on but the screws from the m-lok obstruct the barrel when trying to put it back on.

Questions:
  1. Is there a different/better way to get a bottom rail onto it?
  2. If I shorten the m-lok screws I doubt I'd be able to get the rail back on as it was a pretty difficult job in the first place (rookie here), would you guys suggest trying to trim them after it's already on? Only the forward most screw is a problem.

Is it having the issue while in place? Or when trying to install rail is it hitting something? M-lok can be installed while rail is mounted. Any pics you can share?

I had to shorten the screws in pretty much same situation. It was installing a rail section on my daughters Ruger precision Rimfire. Just tightened screws down on adapter without it on handguard, sanded/ground a few threads off of the exposed screws and then checked things.
