I've had all kinds of "machines".

Coffee Press
Aeropress
Stovetop Espresso
Glass Pour over....with measured amount and controlled temp. water
Keurig
Coffee maker that fresh grinds before it starts to brew
Drip coffee maker
Percolator...stove top and electric
Enamel stove top for "cowboy" coffee....put coffee in bottom fill almost to top and boil. Put about 1/2 cup cold water in it to make the grinds go to bottom.

I've had books that explained the bean types, roast, grind, amount(by weighing on a small electric scale) and how much water and how hot to the ratio of coffee and how long to let it set before serving.

Bottom line: I now just use a Mr. Coffee 12 cup BUT now I have a very distinct preference to the brand.

I like various and numerous types from Louisiana(Community) & New Orleans(Cafe Du Mond) to Chock Full O Nuts to New Mexico Pinion Coffee to Mexican/Veracruz to Guatemalan to...............

I don't use a grinder anymore and I buy bags already ground. NO SUGAR!!! Once in a while a tablespoon of creme or milk to knock off the acidic taste after 7-8 cups, and maybe an ice cube to knock off the heat to save my tongue or the roof of my mouth.

I always come back to.....don't hate me...don't kick me square in the n*ts....Starbucks

And I do like McDonald's and Folgers 1850 brand....That's it for me.

And one of my favorite places to drink coffee....at the bottom of the page.

Everyone knows how much I love Vegas and what's going on there as I type this..CV-19. But one of my favorite places to sip a warm cup of Starbucks is in front of the Golden Nugget EARLY in the morning. NO ONE there except me and the pigeons that I feed.

I buy my beans green from Sweet Maria’s and Coffee Bean Direct. I roast them in a Behmor Coffee Roaster to my preferred roast level (City Roast). I’ve got about 15 pounds of beans. They store for a year or more. Favorites are the African and Indonesia beans. I use a French Press to make my coffee. I used to be a Folgers fan until I discovered how great fresh roasted, single source coffee can be.

Now there’s a coffee guy

My coffee maker of choice is a Cusinart Burr Grind & Brew that is apparently discontinued, but this looks like its replacement: https://www.cuisinart.com/shopping/appliances/coffee_makers/dgb-800

I don't know if it makes any better coffee than anything else, but it's easier to use. All I have to do is dump in some more coffee beans once or twice a week and clean out the filter basket, put in a new filter basket, and pour in fresh water every night (and three of those are things I'd have to do with any coffee maker). Grinding the right amount of beans and pouring them into the filter is automatic.

About the only thing I don't like about it is the thermal carafe (a common complaint about this model). It is Not Awesome, and it's a pain to get all of the coffee out of it. It looks like they've solved that on the newer model by going to a normal glass pot on a hot plate.

I have an inlaw that hooks me up with Komodo Dragon or Sumatra from time to time. I have to admit that is very tasty even though I make it in a Mr. Coffee.

I'm about halfway through the last bag of Komodo Dragon they gave me. In between the freebies I buy the darkest roast that I can find at my local grocery store.

I'm going to invent a machine that makes an entire POT of coffee, and I'm talking about ten or twelve cups. I'll just get up and pour a cup of coffee anytime I want. If I get up the next morning, and there's some left over, I might even drink that.

One of our granddaughters gave us a bag of New Mexico Pinon Coffee for Christmas. Good stuff. I've tried some of the Community and 1850 coffees and, they're OK, but I'm not overly impressed. I'm always looking for new ones to try without spending a fortune. The wife has two cups every morning, and I drink the rest of the pot.
