Wife said they just announced a test that can have results in 45 minutes not 2 or 3 days. No idea how quickly they can get this out and in what quantities. It is amazing to see how fast they can find solutions when they put their mind to it.

If this thing goes anything like Italy has here. This will be a generational life altering event guys. We will all be touched by this virus if it goes bad here. That is the reality of it. Will we be spun into chaos? I doubt it but we could sure all see our lives changed and loose lots of loved ones.

That's not a rosy prospect, but with as little as we know about it, such an outcome is possible.

I believe most people are taking it seriously, but not letting the media fool them into making this larger than it should be. I keep seeing folks tell everyone to "stay home"....well if we all stay home there will be no electricity, no running water, no food, no fuel for cars, no Military support to defend us......Think its a mess now, let that happen.

im sure most people recognize that some jobs are essential. Just as I’m sure some healthcare workers wish they weren’t essential.

but the fact that some people must go to work should reinforce to those with a choice that maybe staying at home on the couch ain’t so bad

I am taking it seriously. This is me going to the end of the driveway to get the mail. What you can’t see is the disposable rubber gloves and Glock on the hip and spray bottle to disinfect he mail before bringing it into the house.

seriously I am amateur wood worker and I was sanding on a walnut table when the wife took this picture.

Anyone that has that many Dewalt drills isn't amateur.

I did see a meme i liked. Something to the effect of 'If alabama residents were told that staying inside for two weeks would guarantee the 2020 football season starts on time you wouldn't see anyone out of their houses'

I wish instead of worrying about a test they would all focus on a vaccine.
i'm guessing they aren't mutually exclusive, but a test is likely 'faster' since they only have to look for markers (i.e. having any hint of infection gives a better course of action than not having any way of detecting).

A test is probably also easier to implement since it wouldn't relay on testing to the same extent (how a vaccination affects men, women, young, old, allergies, etc etc all play into effectiveness and probably can't be rushed).

If a test can tell you in 45 minutes if someone has it then you can (hopefully) take immediate steps to isolate those people and keep them from spreading the virus. That alone would help flatten the curve and would also help protect people with compromised immune systems (who likely wont be able to have a vaccination anyway)

All that to say, there is a reason for a better mouse trap sometimes
