I'm over loaded on American Whiskey and Bourbon. My basement/ man cave is loaded to the gills...no pun intended...with numerous bottles I'm saving for special occasions.

Then in my liquor cabinet in the den I've got excellent tequila, Cuban rum I smuggled...ur...umm...well...and plenty of good ol' sippin whiskey and bourbon.

I took a few chemistry classes in college, so I'll put that knowledge to use. SEE KIDS!!! Chemistry can be fun and useful!!!

Wish they would allow online sales from other states. Missouri has booze so cheap it's ridiculous.
What costs me $23 in Ok is $12.99 at Macadoodles in Branson and Springfield. Thank God for airbag suspension in the Tundra on the way home. :thumbup3:

What worries me is all the news talk about making hand sanitizer with grain alcohol. :/

Yeah, see, I don't get that. Been told a bazillion over the years that grain alcohol is not an effective sanitizer, that it must be wood alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to effectively sanitize a surface. Now it's like "Glory be! Distilleries are stepping up to the plate." So which is it? Is grain alcohol an effective sanitizer or not?

The way I understand it, ethyl alcohol mixture works just fine as long as the alcohol is at least 60% of the sanitizer.
Most liquors are 80 proof which is 40% alcohol so even most straight liquor doesn't meet the minimum threshold, much less diluted with other ingredients.
The alcohol the distillers are starting with is closer 100%.

Everclear comes in two strengths (120/190 proof which is 60%/95% ABV), but I've only seen the 190 here.

There's also a cheaper brand called "Spring Clear," but I haven't seen it in a while. :anyone:

If the price difference is what I think it is, it’s all tax. It’s been a long minute since I was overseas back in Guam but all the alcohol was tax-free on the Navy base. You could buy just about any bottle of namebrand liquor you wanted for five or six bucks. Come back to the states and the same stuff is 20 bucks ballpark

Windsor Canadian. It's actually pretty good. I've served it to some Liquor connoisseurs that pride themselves on how expensive their tastes are. When they find out it's not $100 a bottle, they don't say much.
We go to Mo twice a year to go fly fishing. It's not a special trip, just a benefit and an example of how much difference there is in liquor when you compare OK vs Mo pricing.
