Months and months ago, the then-new D.A. in Dallas announced that his office would not prosecute theft if the amount of merchandise involved was under $750.00. No reason for the cops to arrest someone if the D.A.'s office refuses, in advance of the crime, to prosecute that someone.

So they can walk out of Walmart with $500 worth of goods?

Supposedly Midwest City is operating this way too. All but major crime is not quite getting the attention it might have.
