My mistake.......I was thinking I heard that when the stimulus thing was first being kicked around that we'd have to pay it back.

I'd still rather see my portion go to someone more needy......donating the money to a worthy organization will be my plan.

You're probably thinking about one of the first proposals which was halting payroll tax deductions...which would have a much greater short term stimulus effect, but likely could have been expected back at the end of the tax year.

Just like a politician to throw you a check for a grand or two and call it "stimulus" while continuing to confiscate 25% or more of your income every month in taxes. LOL

We're waiting to see what the sliding scale does to our stimulus money. My bride worked a lot of OT last year and that kicked our adjusted gross up and one of our kids turned 18. We'll probably get enough to buy some inflated $$ toilet paper lol. But at least we are both still working and getting paid.

Inflated toilet paper? Be tough to flush.

I never thought I'd say this, but can I borrow a couple of yall's kids? You can have them back right after the money hits the bank. [emoji38]

you'd probably spend more on those kids in one month than you'd get from the .gov. after you pay for their health insurance, food, clothing and what have you. kids are effing expensive, man.

True, but they’re worth every last penny and then some.

Nothing for us. I'm just trying to get The Wife to get the taxes turned in so we can see what the damage is going to be.... this is going to be one hell of a bad spring. I'm glad so many of ya'll are going to get bonuses and be able to buy new motors (my truck needs one), new roofs, new iPhones or pay off some debt or put it in the bank, though.

We already canceled 2 trips we had planned that were business and charity related, but we had hoped to be able to spend a couple of extra days to have a family vacation. Of course, those aren't happening now. Nothing major, one to Dallas for a week long conference on Crimes Against Women and one to San Antonio for a weekend to put on an art exhibit to raise rape awareness on the UofT S.A campus. I guess it helps I won't be out of work those two weeks, it was going to make it a little tough - but of course the productivity we've already lost and are going to continue massively outweighs that.

Since your a small business owner is this not going to reimburse you for keeping people on the job for the next couple months and pay your rent? Is there no help for you in this multi-trillion dollar deal?

As for most other things you mentioned. Man life is full of choices. We all make them. My wife decided to stay home and home school my kids. That means no Escalade for her like all the other ladies in the my neighborhood. I know last year you were talking about needing a motor. Not trying to judge but you could have built that motor by now a couple times over. Instead you made other choices that you have posted here numerous times. Man we all make choices everyday and we all deal with the consequences. I am sure you have this talk with patients routinely.

Also you versus a lot of us I imagine have a much greater capacity to earn larger sums of money quickly. Rightly so you earned that ability by becoming a doctor. I have an acquaintance that was a Family Dr. and went back to OU to be a specialist. He worked 12hr weekend shifts at a small OK town ER. He was making $200 or more an hour. So doing that he was able to go to school during the week and he and his family went to their home country each year for a month. Not a lot of folks have the opportunity to pick up a weekend job to make 5k a weekend.

As for vacations even Bernie Sanders doesn't say that's an American right. My daughter routinely complains about not getting to go on vacations like her cousin or some of the girls she knows whos parents are in a different tax bracket than me. The alternative is she can go to public school and her mom can go back to teaching other peoples kids. Mom will push us into next tax bracket and Yea! We get to take a week to Florida or some place each year. Or they get to be at home each day and enjoy all the benefits of having one on one instruction from their parents and flexibility to do lots of other things through out the year.

Both very true. I've got three of them in the house, and one of my daughters friends is here more than her own place...so we are crushing groceries right now. At the same time, their youthful presence is a nice distraction from the weight of the moment.

it only bothers me when it's my pennies, so to each their own.

A lot of folks on facebook are saying it's 'socialism' for the government to refund 1,200 dollars of my money back to me. I don't know, taxes are too high and wasted on stupid ****. in the old days, you go to welfare office and you got a block of government cheese and some big cans of fruits and vegetables, a big sack of potatoes and rice..the necessities. nowadays they're giving away free rent, free gas, free phone, free medical care the whole nine yards. so no, i don't feel too bad about getting 1,200 of my own dollars back. this world would be a lot better place if people pulled their own weight.

QVC/HomeShoppingNetwork was selling TP for $3.50/roll this week, minimum 3 rolls per order. It was depressing to see.

I agree 100%. I could have replaced my motor for what I've spent on this new rifle I'm waiting on. In fact, I tried to do that, and my mechanic put me off and told me to wait a while, I didn't need to do it 'right now'. He says to wait until I am having more problems other than just losing coolant little by little. So... ok. That's kicking the can down the road, too. But I want him to do the work, because he has been good to us, and he is trying to help me by buying me more time. So I get it.

And I wasn't bitching about not getting a 'stimulus'. I really don't NEED one, not right now... and granted, I spent the money on my new rifle when things were going well... it's the next 6 months that my business is going to be hurt.

As for taking stimulus money to keep our business running, that is something we just heard about, and while it seems again like a good thing, there are almost always strings. And details are slim as far as I know now. So I am going to withhold judgement on how good a thing this is until I know more about it and what it means for us in the longrun. We don't want to cut hours or cut employees... we take seriously that we employ 40 people or so. And we want to keep those people employed and supporting their families. So we are going to look into what our options are, but I also know that all this 'free' money everyone is raving about is anything but free.

My son is going to pay for it. :(
