LOL, the 9mm PCC carbine with red dot optics I built for competition uses the 31 round G17 mags. It's impossible to shoot off bags because the mag is too long. I realize this combo isn't a paper puncher but shooting off bags to get the dot zero'd is handy. Just ordered two from an online retailer.
Same with shooting any AR platform at the range. 5 to 10 round mags are perfect until wanting to unleash holy hell on the steel downrange then the 30 rounders, one with an 18 round extension come into play. :hyper:
What do you use?

WHAT!!!?! No one needs more than 10 rounds for anything! And you should only have two mags MAX! YOU ARE A GUN CRAZED MANIAC!

OMG.... did I just type that? I read CNN for 5 minutes and.... (shakes vigorously). I need a shot of whiskey, I think I just lost 5 years of testosterone...

I think anybody who shoots off a bench or prone has a few short mags just for that.
Those same mags are handy for hunting too as I dont feel like lugging 30 rounds of .308 through the woods when I know damn well I'm not gonna be shooting that many all week. So 5 rounders for one of my deer rigs.
I use 15 rounders in one of my Pdog guns. The capacity for that is nice but I like laying prone in the field so they dont inhibit shooting. Happy medium right there.

What do you use?

10r (G26) flat base for shooting at the range off of a bag.

17r with steel challenge

Others:
24r Glock or 21r Magpul unless a particularl stage or situation is an advantage with a 33r or my 41r extended mag. The 41r is a 33r with a +10, (a 33r factory mag is a 31r with a +2). If need, I start with the 33 or 41 and reload from the belt with a 21 or 24.

The gun “moves” for me better with mags shorter than the 33s.

I have a Ruger 10 rounder I use in my Mini 14. It is actually easier to load into the rifle than the five rounders. I bought a Ruger 20 rounder about six months ago, but I haven’t gotten around to trying it out yet.

I got in on the $5 ten round AR mags someone posted recently specifically for sighting in scopes and bench shooting.

If they prove reliable I might use them while deer hunting.

I have one ten rounder I bought a few years ago but I wanted a couple more.
