So a friend of mine just bought a brand new Ruger American 9mm pistol. He tested one out once & really liked it.
So we went behind the house to take a few shots, & he didn't even get one magazine thru it & no more worky!
Started out by checking things out, making sure it was going all the way into battery. Had to go deeper, Turns out the firing pin broke.
What to do?
I told him that sucks, especially with so few rounds thru it, & should have bought a Smith & Wesson M&P.
I then said to contact Ruger & tell them & they will fix it for free.

Any here had any experience with an issue like this in such a short time?

When the sig 365s came out they were having problems with the firing pins braking. Some of our gun companies are using inferior products to save a few pennies hoping they can get by.

I have had sp101s,GP100s,P95s and a P89 that were all quality firearms. But they were all bought 10 or 15 years ago. However one of the GP100s has still never been shot.

Mechanical issues can happen with anything mechanical.

Some issues can't be always determined by visual inspection either, especially when metallurgy is involved.

Not a Ruger owner.
