Man, I'll admit I totally forgot amongst all the crap. Thanks for the reminder, man.

Don’t feel bad. It’s a common occurrence.

The American people tend to forget. There is an overwhelming attitude of “that’ll never happen here”. How many realize that the World Trade Center survived an attack by a van filled with explosives in 1993.

How many remember the beltway sniper?

Who would have thought bombs would be planted at the Boston Marathon?

How many other attacks have been forgotten or prevented that we will never hear about?

That was Chris Fields with Baylee Almon.
I met Chris when he graduated the academy and we were assigned to the same station together.
Terrible day for all. Went to school with Chris. Good guy. Had a few bottle rocket wars with him back when we were little. I remember one time he had a gross in a sack under his arm and a incoming got in the sack and lit up. Burned his side pretty good. Today is the first time since the bombing I haven't went fishing on April 19. May go this evening just because.

An excellent reminder of how good people can overcome evil. This virus crap will pass, we will learn from it, and one day we will be asking, “what did you do during the Great Pandemic?”

Here, but occasionally There.
I was thinking of this the other day, but it escaped me again when I saw this post. That was definitely a dark day in our lives, but April 19 has another meaning for me. On that day in 2003, I put the pipe away and haven't smoked since. Thus, April 19 has mixed emotions for me.

If I remember right, during the rescue operations, there was a guy "crabbing" his way down the ladder truck ladder because he was afraid of heights. I noted at the time that he had been a customer of mine when I managed a major national electronics store.
