We have a thread on what your first vehicle was, what is your dream car? You know, the one you never got. Was it that red Lamborghini Countach everyone from the 70's had on their wall? Was it a 1950's Detroit V8 land yacht? Was it a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud? Was it a Ford King Ranch? How about a monster truck? An M-1 Abrams? Gas mileage would suck but no one would fight you for a parking spot.

I really don't have a dream car. I liked the styling of the late 60's early 70's cars back when you could tell a Ford from a Chevy at 100 yards. I like Rancheros and El Caminos as far as functionality. I also like creature comforts like air conditioning, nice stereos and power brakes.
I don't like sports cars with their low entry and stiff rides. I like luxury and comfort. I like horsepower too. So, after all that my dream car would be a 72 Chevelle SS or El Camino SS restomod.

Ok, I'll play.

This past October, we flew to Boston and rented a BMW 5 Series for a week. Cruised through northern New England and up to Quebec, Canada. I really liked that car! Handled great and got 30mpg. The BMW 5 Series would certainly be on my list. (Rented a Cadillac CTS in Phoenix back in December---would've only won a participation trophy after driving the BMW.)

I've always wanted an old VW Beetle. Just a beater from the 60's or early 70's. Well, I guess that's my list.

Mine is fairly simple and somewhat obtainable. Triple locked FZJ80 with HD OME suspension. Preferably an LX450, cause I'm fancy. Or just hook me up with Joe Rogans rig!

If I had money to blow, I'd have a fresh mid-60's Toyota FJ45. Since they're way out of my price range, I'm settling for my obtainable dream vehicle, a mid 80's Jeep Grand Wagoneer... family truckster green with wood trim, tan interior. Skip the mopar 360, stuffing a 350 small block and turbo400 in it if the 4.3L dual turbo V6 doesn't tune as well as they did in the Cyclone. Looked at that turnkey Cummins 2.8L, would be interesting, but I don't know s**t about working on diesels, and at this point in my life, I'm too lazy to learn it.
