I talked to my dad. He said he couldn’t remember the name of the place, but he frequently bought steel at a place on Eastern near south 10th St. He also said to check with the recyclers, as you could get cut-offs for a fraction of the price; he said he was getting that for $0.03/lb when it was $0.20/lb for new steel.

I'll bet you can go to one of those scrap metal businesses on Reno and buy all you want for far less than you'd think. Give them a call, you might be surprised. See above post.

Just east of (I-35/I-40) Brick-Town area on Reno - you can buy scrap metal from:

Standard Iron & Metal Co., LLC
1501 E Reno Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73117
(405) 232-4216

You can buy left over scrap for a fraction of the price.
It's all in a heap of metal, so you have to do your own digging.

I've bought from them before.
Bring gloves. Especially on the hot days because that metal is a million degrees hot in the sun! (I know. :) )

+1 great place to buy used steel. I have bought sheet steel from them years ago. Had good prices.

If you need several pieces, Steelco in Paoli is definitely worth the drive. Their prices were about $1.00 per foot cheaper than anywhere else.
If you need a full-length piece, Albright has good prices.
Metal Supermarkets didn't have what I needed the last two times I was there, so it would be better co call them first.
