Just 10 days after Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum announced that the city would no longer participate in "Live PD," the network which carried the law enforcement drama decided to cut ties with the show altogether amid protests against police brutality.

A&E announced late Wednesday that it will stop production of the popular cable television program that followed law enforcement officers at agencies until it determines "a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and police officers" in the wake of public demonstrations following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

The decision by A&E to pull the show is considered a victory for activists and concerned citizens who believed "Live PD" exploited men and women at their worst moments during police interactions strictly for entertainment purposes.

I thought that's what all reality shows did..minus the police interaction

Have these "activists" ever actually watch ANYTHING on TV? We didn't watch Live PD religiously by any means, but if folks don't want to potentially be seen at "their worst" then maybe don't do stupid stuff?

Personally, I thought the show offered some opportunities for folks to get an honest look at how things are in real time.

It ain’t coming back unless I guess they can also put crews on some corners with the dealers and at the bar where they hop in with a drunk on the ride home... then it’s a toss up of who crosses who’s path camera wise.

It’s true. I watched cops as a kid and made note of when things went wrong and why. When it’s on and someone starts up, that’s when the show gets really entertaining. I really like the chases. Foot or car. Never hide under a kiddie pool. Especially if they’re filming from the chopper.

This show got away with putting people on TV as entertainment without blurring faces and without their permission by purporting to be "live" but it has never really been truly live because they blank out last names and addresses, bleep out bad words, etc. If it were truly live they would not be able to do that and if they can do that they should also be able to blur faces, which they never do on the so-called "live" broadcast. It's actually "live to delay" in that they don't edit it (other than bleeps and blanks in the audio) and run it in real time switched multi-camera. I always figured it was only a matter of time before someone sued them on this of "live" not really being live and that may actually be what is happening here. One good way for a business to get out from under a law suit is just to fold up operations.
