I need to get someone to locate some in-ground sprinkler valves that have had grass grow over them over the years . . . I used to know where most of them were but rarely use the sprinkler system and have lost track of them.

Or I might need to get one of these things. :)
When you locate them, put a metallic object by them. Washer, piece of rebar, coin etc. you can find it with a metal detector later

Great idea. I got lucky a couple of years ago and found two that I had no idea existed.

Tried to get Tru-Green's sprinkler folks to come do it but they kept canceling or changing appointments. Need to see if those folks on W 2nd Street in Edmond could come find them.

I've got a metal detector. Do they have any metal in them like springs or something?

I had one and it wouldn’t follow the hose. Front wheel would come off the hose and it would wander where’ve it wanted.
If it starts dragging to much hose, the nose gets light. Duct tape a lead ingot to the front of it. I only know this because mine wandered out in the street once. The mail person knocked on my door to let me know.

Every time I tried those tractor thingys they would either soak the ground in front of it and it would lose traction digging itself into the ground or it would stop because it couldn't pull the heavy hose behind it. I had the old school cast iron yellow tractors.
