I don't believe I have a "chip on my shoulder" about LE. I do see a double standard.

For instance, a citizen is in traffic court involving a red light ticket. There is no video. Cop says the citizen ran the light, citizen (who had no moving violations for over 30 years) says No, it was yellow when I entered intersection.

Word against word. Nobody has any proof. Which way do you think it will go ? I know which way it went, I saw it happen.

As for apologizing for the actions of the LE that caused the wreck (I presume you mean 'apologize' in the sense of an apologia, an explanation), I see nobody doing that.

I also saw nobody (except li'l ol' me) bringing up that it was NOT the citizens fault. It was the cop that caused it. You know, the motorcycle cop, with all the extra training in driving ? Yeah, him. The guy with the clear road in front of him, 3 lanes wide.

Why am I the only one that brought it up ? Fair is fair. Everyone jumped all over the citizen, offering probable causes. Why no speculation about the cop ?

Most of those against the police have spent some time in handcuffs. Strange how that works.

Exactly my point.

Pile up on the citizen, say whatever you want. Don't breathe a bad word about a cop.
Oh give me a break. When they open up hospitals for elective surgery again, you really should see about having that cob removed from your ass....

Haha... get over yourself and your social justice/double standard BS. Like I said.... chip on your shoulder. Nobody cares about you whining about some traffic ticket you lost. This was a procession for an officer that was pretty much executed so I'm sure emotions were high. So some motorcycle cops made some mistakes and some people were told differently by media and friends. You didn't have a ton of people that "jumped all over the citizen." You're putting some serious spin on this to see what you want to see.

As I watched this unfold on TV yesterday, the media first speculated that the SUV pulled out in front of the procession. So, that's on them. They shouldn't be speculating to begin with, unless they have some reliable information to base it on. Of course, others then piled on. It certainly seemed plausible. Now, it seems the SUV was legally parked and the trooper ran into the rear of a parked vehicle, setting off a chain reaction. Why? Don't know. Hopefully, he will fully recover and be able to provide some input as to what actually caused all of this. Right now, our concern should be with the welfare of the troopers involved. Prayers for all of them. Just my :twocents:

The channel 5 helicopter pilot said they were video taping the procession and the SUV driver got out in front of them.

If the light is red and you’re in the intersection, you’ve run a red light. Yellow doesn’t mean race the red.

I've heard both that the car was parked on the shoulder and the troopers ran into it, and that the car pulled out in front of the troopers. I'm open to whatever the truth is, but if those are the choices I find the second one much easier to believe than that three or four troopers on separate motorcycles just drove into the rear of a parked car on a clear day.

The report I saw on one of the news channels today said the car was parked on the shoulder, one of the motorcycles hit the car and then the same motorcycle caused the other two motorcycles to crash.

As in, pulled out in front of the procession, causing the accident? Did you see the footage? If there is actually footage like that, why would they be saying the trooper ran into a parked vehicle?

.
No, I did not see any footage. The anchor was relating what their pilot said, third person. I should have been more clear. They were talking about trying to get the footage on but I never saw it.

Through my career, personal, and family life, I have had the opportunity to associate with a great many individuals in law enforcement. Of all those associations, I can only think of one individual who was a disservice to the profession. That's probably a better ratio than most professions.
I've known many as well. Some that didn't make retirement and were released early for due cause.
What I have to say about that is the leadership in that LEO organization were capable of seeing this person wasn't really made out to be a Law Enforcement Officer. Those that do make the retirement see the profession as a calling, and not as a way to "have a job".
One of the members at our local gun club retired after 30 years in the police department. He was an older gun guy constantly at the range and I knew him well from my wilder past.
We talked one day, and he said he thought he recognized the name, but just couldn't place it. Had to remind him that he gave me about a half dozen speeding tickets in my youth when I thought street drags from stop light to stop light while dragging Grand Ave in Ponca should have been legal in my mind anyway.
Told him I deserved every damned one of the tickets and a$$ chewing he gave me and didn't hold it against him. We had a big laugh about that.
All that said, there are some in LEO that are not suited for the job and move among agencies without them knowing their bad records.
Trumps Executive order on Policing spelled out creating a data base to track bad LEO that were trying to move between agencies. One more great accomplishment that the great divider of the races obummer could have done but never did.
