I usually buy my cars not running.
Most did not have an engine or transmission. Burned up electrical wires.
Perfect!
I can then build it the way I want it.
Nice to have parts laying around you can use.
Yep many TransDapts that allow odd engines to use newer transmissions.

I have a small lower unit I think it was an 8HP from the 60's I made an adapter to mound a 5HP push mower engine to it.
Like a briggs engine.
It Worked.
Reverse was turn the engine all the way around.
I ended up pulling the engine off and using it as a push mower engine as I needed a spare.
I need to stick it back on as I need a trolling outboard for my pontoon.

Swampratt, you gotta post pics the next time you rig up a motor on that level. I would love to see it.

Got the carb rebuilt and the new water pump in. Started and idled perfectly with on push of the button. Got plywood for floors today, a switch block from amazon, battery switches and some lights. Will post pics when it’s done. Also raising the motor to about 1” above the transom with a homemade aluminum bracket. Hoping to get 30mph out of it after I get a tach installed and a new prop.

I drank half of Lake Texoma learning to ski behind a Newman tri hull and a 100 horse Merc. I got up once and was doing good until another boat cut in front of us. I never could get both skis under me at the same time after that. It absolutely played hell trying to get our 300 pound Ag teacher up. I think he drank the other half.
