I don’t disagree that silver and gold are good things, but those are going to be used to buy the dominant fiat after the collapse has gone full circle. Maybe we should buy as much Yuan as we can since it would seem they are going to steamroll the rest of the world eventually.
Frankly its not a matter of “if” as I think this has one become when scenario (as in when it happens) I tried to follow it out to the extremes if we have that total economic collapse and what would be of real value in a time like that. I think you’d be better invested in an off grid property (that can generate its own electricity one way or another be it solar, hydro, whatever). and have its own well (plus the ability to fix that well). I think a seed vault is a cheap and easy way of being prepared (because you can grow food) tools are a great investment as well since we will all have to do things ourselves. Livestock etc....basically go back to 40 acres and a mule. I have been buying axes, splitting mauls, draw knives, screws, nails, files, sharpening stones, things that would be useful to barter with if we collapse. Guns and ammo go without saying you will need these to barter effectively hahaha...otherwise the people who have the weapons will just take your stuff rather than barter or trade. My wife still has 100 ounces of silver, but we have thousands and thousands of rounds of ammo, and a whole lot of seeds from our garden and purchased from stores. I am considering buying property further out and building that off grid home with a much larger garden and chickens. I am buying a life straw community this week in fact and it will sit in the attic until its needed.
Damned If I don't agree with 100% of this comment.
I don't see metals being any safeguard of wealth or a hedge against any thing.
If you need a loaf of bread do you bite off a piece of the coin to pay for it?
I don't know how that would work?
One needs something that is trade able. Food, ammo, etc seems to be the items I'd want
I don't see the economy getting to that level but one certainty needs to think about what could happen if it did and the options available.

I’ve got just under 1000 ounces of silver (I’ve got $12-15/ounce in it) and a couple gold Kruegerands, and I’m hearing speculation that silver might go to $50/ounce before the election. A friend and I have agreed that if it gets above $40 we’re both selling out. Heck, with those proceeds and some savings I’m sitting on, I would be able to pay off my house and land in Oklahoma and be debt free again.:thumb:

Here, but occasionally There.
Dominant fiat
You talking about RAM trucks?

I don't care what they say, those are still Dodge pickups. I had an RV'er that owned one take me to task on this, so I asked him, "Can you buy a new one at any place OTHER than a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer?" And, if one open the doors of the "Ram" and looks around at the door frame, one would find a definite reference to The Chrysler Group.

Food for thought Bill is tied to Mr. gold that has called the last two starting 79/80. I’d like to make a profit but if gold soars it’s biblical as you’ll see the $20 loaf of bread. It always appears there is no stopping the trend until it whiplash back the other way.

good interview (big q and a)

I think buying silver or ammo a couple of months ago would have been smart but buying silver today "in my opinion" is about like buying a $30 box of WWB 9mm.

Save them quarters to smelt bullets.
In the future, wolf men will walk the earth.
You’ll be sadder but wiser when the time comes.
You’ll remember ignernt told you so.
