I bet you are buying a classic car like a Cuda Or Chevelle or 57 Chevy. Something that does not drop in value :)

If not price some classics at the same price you intend to pay for a newer car.
Yes you can get reliable ones with AC and a smooth ride.

Too be honest, I usually get prequalified through my credit union just to get a baseline of interest/amount/terms and then I let the dealer finance guy find me something better (if you’re going through a dealer).

Last time I bought a car I got 1.5% lower than my credit union was going to give me. Just gotta shop and compare.

RCB usually does a cheap summer rate..... like 1.9 or 2.9... but I think it has to be a fairly new vehicle.

Yeah. Looking at a 2013. I found a 3.24% at CFCU. I’m going to check RCB again, but last time I asked they were at 4.x for a 2013. Had to go 2 or 3 years newer to get the lowest rate.

Looking at an Avalon Hybrid that is 12 years newer than my current car and has 80k less miles. Also has newer features like backup camera, blind spot monitoring, Bluetooth, nav, and heated/cooled seats. And it gets double the mpg.

@swampratt As much as I’d like to get something like those, I’m just gonna rack up miles. Right now I’m on track to do 18-20k miles a year. So economy and long life are important.

Yeah, that sounds about right. They are higher for the older stuff.

If you don't qualify to be a member of a CU, often they'll let you join if one of your family-uncle, father, son etc has an account.
