I hate those damn things. Always felt sorry for my dog when dove hunting. He was all about the trip out to pickup the bird, the burrs didn’t seem to phase him. But, the retrieve back to me had him tip toeing and favoring one foot or more. I’d have to pick burrs out of his paws. I worked on toughing up his feet but never got him there. I was considering boots for the dog but just didn’t hunt those types of fields all that often.

They would ruin a bicycle inner tube, among the neighborhood boys this was one of the worst things that could happen aside from having the pedal "spike" in one's calf. (That is when all of the pedal is gone and the center or round metal part is remaining). Then, there was always the rumor of a kid riding his bicycle with no seat and only the metal part sticking up and he rams himself on the seat stob-never seen it but it has to be fearful.

I could have gone all day not to have this image in my mind.

OK, grasshoppeers. Here's the skinny. They're goatheads. They're stickers on steroids. They're made out of seasoned hardwood; oak, I think. I may still have remnants of one in my left heel.
Cockleburrs lookk like this.

They're just a nuisance that sticks to your Lees.

The goatheaad name is a reference to the Devil, aptly so.

You see that little fart in my avatar. He knows of what he speaks.

Sandburrs (or stickers) and goatheads are two entirely different monsters! We need some pics of the two side-by-side to show the difference. Yes, goatheads are like sandburrs on steroids. Most sandburrs are not even the size of a pencil eraser. Goatheads are much larger ... at least the ones I've seen. Fortunately, I haven't seen any in some time!
