I have a S&W model 36 I would like to price. I have looked on the internet and prices are all over the place depending on year of manufacture, dash vs. no dash(?), etc. I found a site to search by serial number but got a message that said s/n not recognized. I believe it is an older model. Is there a way to pin the price down? I usually use the internet for selling prices but I’m not having much luck on this one. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Post some pics of it is your best bet. Also, give it a good, honest description. List things like...

Is it a pinned barrel?
Is it a flat latch?
Are the grips/stocks original? If so, is it old enough that they are numbered to the revolver?
Any rust or pitting?
Is the barrel and all 5 chambers shiny and rust free?
Any ammo, holsters or other accessories?
Do you have the original box?

Most of the members here can quote you a good price, but it really depends on you.

Mechanical condition important. Barrel length 2 or 3". Show last 2 s/n # as XX's. Has it been reblued? Show pic's of inside of both grips, if original wood. Also of frame side where the grips lie L and R. Pic's of the extractor star and the firing pin recoil surface are helpful.

Here are some photos. I bought this used years ago and do not have the box. The s/n is ALU94 xx. It is in good shape, no rust or damage. I don’t know when it kicks up to very good? It has not been reblued that I can tell. Thanks for the help.

$350-400 Locally seems to be the going prices. A newer one that will handle +p ammo will bring more.
You want more you have to try some place like GB but then you have to deal with shipping and there's no guarantee it will bring a higher price.
