I’ve never owned a large caliber bolt action rifle. Other than an entry .22LR I’ve never owned a bolt action at all.

Decided to change that and picked up a Mossberg Patriot in walnut with a Vortex 3-9 at Academy.

Which "large caliber" did you go with?

something about touching off a trigger on a center fire gun that is kind of addicting. enjoy and have fun!

Found an original aluminum buttplate for a 10/22.

I stripped the paint and buffed it. Now it matches the rest of my SS 10/22.

Yours fits way better than mine did. I searched one out, did the same thing and it was WAY off from fitting.

Its a bummer too, I love the grain on this one. Maybe I should try again?

Yes, it's just barely a bit narrower right at the top, but not enough to matter.
I had thought about trying to scuff the plastic one and then use aluminum spray paint, but i didn't think that would last long term.

Now to find some SS screws for it.
