I'd rather have the flu than to get the vaccine. Always felt that way. It's not a fear of needles, it's fear of not knowing what else is in that liquid.
The Navy made me get the shot for years then they came out with the Flumist live virus option. Supposed to inhale as they blow it up the nose but I wouldn't, I'd just hurry to the head afterwards and blow my nose and get most of it out. Not a perfect system but I wasn't willing to get kicked out of the Navy for refusing a flu shot.

Ok I have a question for all you guys and gals that have had the Flu shot for many years.

Do you take any medications for anything?
Heart issues or blood pressure. Arthritis or Mental disorders got you taking weed or some other thing?

Just curious not being mean or anything.
I may not be old enough yet only 52 but I have never taken any meds other than a pain med when I broke off all my toes on my right foot.
2 Beers worked better for pain so I quit the meds.

Just wondering if all that stuff you let them pump into your body causes issues way down the road.
You would need thousands of people to confirm but lets see what we get here.

Hey, Jeff. I don't really know where you're going with this, but I know you are generally anti-med, and that's OK! I take lots of meds ... a whole lot more than I would like. Without going into details, I take blood pressure meds, arthritis meds, cholestrol meds, something for gastric reflux ... I do know this, they have improved my quality of life. My cardiologist wanted me to get entirely off the NSAID, and I tried. But, it just wasn't gonna' work. I did cut the dose in half and I experience more pain, but I can live with it. I would like to be able to get entirely off of all of them, but I don't see that happening. I have experienced no ill effects from taking flu shots, pneumonia shots, shingles shots, etc. so I will continue taking them, depending on my Dr's advice. You seem to have been blessed with exceptional health, for the most part. If I was having zero issues, I probably wouldn't be taking anything either!

I used to get the flu every year.
The I started getting the flus shot every year.
14 years straight, no flu.
2018/2019 had both A and B strain (confirmed by testing) about 4 months apart. But I was only sick a few days.
2019/2020 season no flu.
Flu shot? Yes!
Covid-19 shot? Yes!

Vaccines are miraculous - they don't cure a disease, they prevent it from happening. The idea they only exist so Big Pharma can make money is ludicrous. Big Pharma is drug dealers, they want you on a course of treatment that you have to pay for the rest of your life or die, preventing disease is not a big money maker.
I was born not long after the polio vaccine came out. I knew some kids not much older than me that were paralyzed by polio. Look around, how many kids paralyzed by polio can you find today? Read about how polio affected the country in the early 1950's and before. There's something to be learned from history.

i think all you will get will be anecdotal stuff which cannot prove a cause & effect for someone with a history of regular vaccinations. The statistics show taking the vaccine will have much better outcomes than not taking it (unless medical reason for not taking it -allergy, etc.). You are much more likely to get sick from not taking the vaccine than any side effects caused by the vaccine itself. The numbers aren’t even close.

Also, if you are 52 & don’t need meds, you prob have good genes or a healthy lifestyle. Enjoy your good fortune. But if you are anti-med, that’s ok as long as you get a regular physical & screenings. As we age, we are more likely to get chronic diseases which can be asymptomatic.
Not uncommon to see a 60 yo guy on life support & his wife said was never sick a day in his life. Didn’t see a doc & took no meds. When I ask why, she said “cause he’s never been sick“.
Mind boggling....

I did it. Now I have the COVID ...:hypnotize:

The flu shot never makes me sick. I have a little soreness in my arm of the nurse is heavy-handed but most years I wonder if I've gotten a placebo. Grumpy gets sick. I mean hs whines and whimpers and carries on like a little school girl.

I got my flu shot yesterday. I feel like CHIT! Grumpy was NOT being gentle when he left this morning! :pokeowned Make no mistake, I had it coming -- I'll let him rub it in all he wants cuz, based on previous years' experience, this year's shot is gonna KILL him ...:lmfao:
it's too early and you should be fine.

I do. Like others have said way more than I'd like but it is what it is. Humans are always looking for explanations for the unexplainable and I am no exception. Until I was 60 the only meds I took was for my headaches. There was no ignoring those things. Then I had 5 major surgeries in just about as many years -- 2 of them only 6 months apart -- and it seems I crashed and burned. Now I'm on stuff for a tremor, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathy. And I still have my stinking headaches though they aren't debilitating ALL the time now -- just in the mornings mostly. Wish I could sleep like a bat -- that would solve ALL my problems.

So ... I blame all my troubles on that streak of surgeries when the truth of the matter is all those conditions but one (the neuropathy) run in my family so it was probably just a matter of time anyway.

I'm not a fan of being "dependent" on meds either but taking a pill every night beats having tremors so bad you can't eat with a fork ... Or having a stroke and winding up an invalid ... (I know, hyperbole and all, but I've never been lucky enough for something to kill me outright. Hell no -- I'm the person who will just linger for another 60 years. Lol)

When you are taking medicine you basically are exchanging one evil for another. I nearly died due to liver failure back in '87 due to taking. a medicine the VA prescribed. I had a friend that died of liver failure due to taking several medications and he was only in his thirties. Now, I don't take anything except what I absolutely have to take. Some Doctors say that there is a higher chance of liver failure again if one has had it once and other Docs say no-so I'm in the middle. I don't know what to believe but I take as little medicine as possible.
