When will winter begin?

It is officially winter the first day that I have to wear a jacket because the north wind is blowing too cold for me to take.

That's usually just a few days a year for me. Most days it's just short sleeve weather

No kidding. I heard a meteorologist mention the early cool down was thanks to the smoke cover from the California fires... so I pretty much know what we have to do next year.

Just this last Wednesday, we headed out from Rapid City, SD to go up to Devil's Tower in NE Wyoming. On our way up there, while we were there, and on our way back, we experienced light snow and light sleet. Some of the ridges had snow left from a previous snowfall on the side of the ridges that was protected from the sun. While walking the 1.3 mile trail around the tower, we were thankful for our coats and jackets as we were layered. The wind was what really made it cold.

The next day, we went east of Rapid City to see the Badlands. All I needed there was a jacket.

So, I think you all will still have to wait a while.

The way we’ve suddenly gone from mid-September weather to mid-November weather this week, that prediction of winter starting tomorrow in Bartlesville may not be that far off...

Channel 9 says it starts Friday. At least that is when the crappy weather is suppose to start.
