I was watching the series on Veterans Day. I did a Google for the surviving members and they’re all gone now.

There’s a few left like Ed Shames and Brad Freeman but not sure on the other names.

Jim Pee Wee Martin is an original Toccoa guy that served in G Company and he just made a parachute jump in Florida a week or so ago at 99.

Know idea how many times I’ve seen it. It’s brutal, you feel like you know the person then bam, gone.

I don’t care for the pacific version because it doesn’t follow one group. Granted, that wouldn’t really be possible in the pacific, except for maybe the navy.

I agree that BoB is much better. It seemed difficult to develop connections to the soldiers unlike Band of Brothers.

Although, I watched the Pacific a second time in bluray which has an interactive option with historians and footage that made it much better.

I have it on bluray and have watched it at least a dozen times but here I am watching again. Best movie/series ever.
So do I. I had to get it on Blu-ray due to my hearing. When DVD players switched to HDMI they temporarily lost the capacity to display CC and the DVD for BoB was not subtitled so after I got my Blu-ray player I got the Blu-Ray as it had English SDH subtitles.

Then Blu-Ray players were CC enabled. Thank God for that.

The Google I did was about Easy Company. The guys the series was about.

https://blog.theveteranssite.greatergood.com/mampre-tribute/

There’s still 2 Veterans left though so whoever wrote that article on Mampre wasn’t completely accurate. Shames was an Enlisted man at Toccoa and helped build the DDay sand tables. He was given a battlefield commission after Normandy and was assigned to Easy Company. Brad Freeman was an Enlisted man that joined Easy Company after Toccoa. I’ve personally met Mampre, Pepping, Shames, Freeman, Compton, Malarkey, McClung, Guarnere, Heffron as well as corresponded with Winters and multiple other Easy Company Vets but it is a shame that those from that era are almost all gone. Camp Toccoa is a neat museum to visit along with the Fort Campbell post museum. Both have some great Airborne related artifacts like some of Col. Sink’s uniform items.
