Great love for 1960 era muscle cars engines.

Yeah, my most painful regret is letting go of my numbers matching ‘68 with a factory 383HP. Spent a couple years restoring it and let it go when I was going through some life changes back in the mid 90’s.

Makes me sick to my stomach to see what the equivalent goes for today! A basket case, shell of a car with no engine goes for what a sold a beautiful restored driver for 25 years ago.

Mopar man. When I was about 15 my one cousin had a 1969 1/2 Road Runner 440 6 pack. Man that car was fast. His brother had a 1970 340 auto Duster. That Duster would leave most big blocks in the quarter. The closest thing I ever had to a muscle car was a 1968 AMC Javelin 290 V-8. Most of them are out of my retirement price range now. My sister-in-law has a 1969 Trans Am Firebird clone for sale I wish I could afford. I have a 13' Fiat 500 Sport that is tricked out to the max and handles like a slot car.

I was a Ford guy back in the day. My pride and joy was a 66 Ford Fairlane GT-390 bought in 74. It was built by a guy in town that had HP in his blood. Died right after completing it and I got it from the estate. Deep metal flake blue in color, every piece of chrome redone with creager mags.
Amazing amount of HP. Much more than any other 390 on the street.
Later on after many thousands of miles the valves needed ground so took the heads up to a shop that specialized in building race engines. One look and he asked where I got those heads. Turned out to be some of the very rare NASCAR heads only out in a few hundred vehicles a year so NASCAR could run them in their cars as “factory stock”.
He said the heads were worth more than the vehicle.

Had a real nice 68 Malibu 4 speed that was really tricked out. Had a pretty hot 427 in it, idled like a pro stock and ran high 10s low 11s. Didn't stop so good, but man it could put a lot of em in the rear view. It got T-boned by a kid kid in a 1 ton Ford not old enough to drive parked at a road side gas station. I miss that car.

I love muscle cars but my favorite engine didn't come out until 1970.

I have always wanted one of these with the 454 LS6.

Dyed in the wool Ford guy, but that era was full of fast cars. There were so many from the 440 Six Packs to the GS 455 Stage 1s, 454s, 429s, you name it. I like 'em all, but love my Fords - and would love to have a 427 side oiler.
so would a Nascar prepped Boss 9
