Biden has said he will do it by executive order. This will keep congress from being blamed and hurting their re-election chances. Also when they put Biden in a home in a year or two, they will try to claim they can not reverse it. "Something the old crazy guy did and we all have to live with it."

Executive Orders would be subject to lawsuit.

I seem to remember that handgun carry in the National Parks, thanks to Tom Coburn, occurred when Obama had both the House and the Senate in his corner.
The Democratic-controlled Congress passed the less restrictive measure with bipartisan support after Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., inserted it into Obama-backed legislation imposing new restrictions on credit card companies. Democratic leaders decided not to challenge Coburn, and Obama signed the gun measure without comment.

I'm concerned they may have learned their lessons about how pointless the last AWB was vis a vis reducing crime and they may take another more serious route this time.

Yes ... After the (failed) AWB the anti-gun rights folk said that the AWB didn't work because it "didn't go far enough". It was then when the ever-so disingenuous Dianne Feinstein said on her "60 Minutes" interview that if she had the votes, she would have voted for "confiscation."

Would not think that they would overreach with "confiscation". Logistics of such, court likely saying "no" and the chance of a pesky civil war that would hurt reelection chances may dampen that. BUT they will tax to restrict our rights. Sadly, Biden's plan is not to have Puto O'Rourke go door-to-door asking for guns but to tax each so-called "assault weapon" $200 and each mag $200.

Hope that the court will say that such taxes would unduly restrict one’s Second Amendment right since such tax essentially prohibits guns “in common use” for “purposes like self-defense” (District of Columbia v Heller). Semi-auto weapons have been defined by the court as “common” (Staples v. United States). While local laws may be able to screw with ownership (Friedman v. Highland Park), it may not be easy at the federal level.

I saw one photo of a protester dressed in black with helmet an AR and tactical gear inside the capital. That could really be the poster child used against us.
Are you sure it wasn't a Capitol Police officer? I saw two or three videos where Capitol Police (or another law enforcement organization, though it was too early for any National Guardsmen to be in the mix) were wielding suppressed AR-pattern rifles (possibly M4s?)
Edit: I found these while searching for photos:

Baby steps and normalization. It would actually be better for us if they'd go too far, than if they make slow, minor changes over decades.
