I guess I have been lucky, but I have not ran across SPP 10mm brass until today. I’ve probably processed 6000 rounds in the last 2 years. From searching a bit, it looks like it has been going on at least a year.

With the primer shortage I bet we'll see this in other calibers. Wouldn't surprise me to find large primer .38/.357Mag brass at some point. They probably don't load and sell enough of it to warrant doing it, but nothing surprises me anymore.

I believe the original 357 mag was large primer brass.
Are some manufacturers trying to make the ammo or primers NT No heavy metals.
I think that is why there are small primer 45 ACP.
I may be wrong on the thinking here though.

I'd guess that it has more to do with .40S&W falling out of favor. With less demand for .40, if you can consolidate the tooling/supplies for .40 and 10mm, you can use the 10mm to help keep up the volume while saving some bucks in manufacturing.

Could be. I started my reloading with .357 mag in the early 80s and I never seen any though.

And we did find another SPP 10mm in his brass purchase that was Federal NT.

It is just odd that it took this long for it to show up in the 10 when they have been doing it in 45 ACP for 10 years or more.

Sorting brass does not bother me so much I even sort my pistol brass by head stamp.
I sort my .308 and other rifle by head stamp but take the sorting a bit farther and look inside the .308 winchester cases and
some have a nipple looking bottom inside and some are flat.
I do not mix the 2.

All the case prepping on rifle brass I do not like so much.
Sure as heck do not want to send my cases through a semi auto if I can avoid it.
Some of those will pound brass and toss it where the missing socks are to be never found again.
