I don't miss a single darn thing about working.
Neither do I.
I retired in August of 2007, haven't spoke to anyone I ever worked with and have never went back to that city. I worked there for the money and that is all. Now we live next to a large lake in NE OK, maintained our good health, and get to do what we want to do.

The problem with retirement, when you wake up, you are at work. If you don't like your boss, well...

Said the guy completely jealous and looking at least another 20 years...

I don't miss the job at all, but I do miss some of the people. Until the 'Rona rage' hit, several former co-workers got together for breakfast every couple of weeks. We haven't been dong that since March. I look forward to things getting back to a 'new normal' so we can be doing such things again.

Congratulations, and yes it is an adjustment. First thing is get rid of your wristwatch if you are used to wearing one. If you want to know what time it is, look out the window. If it is light, it is daytime. If it is dark, it is night time, simple? Eat when you are hungry, take a nap anytime you feel like it. If you were like me, you can most likely look around and find things that need to be done you never noticed before. I try to piddle and get some "work" stuff done every day and then spend the rest of the day just goofing off. I plan my shopping between 9 and 3 on week days to miss the traffic and crowds. I hope this works out for you and you can enjoy your retirement. Having hobbies you never had time for in the past helps also.

Bravo! I chucked my wristwatch the very same day I retired and never looked back. What our good man, @p238shooter speaks of, is the truth. I do however, avoid the "work" part of pretty much anything now. If I don't enjoy it, or want to do it, I either hire it out or it doesn't get done.

That's me. I learned along time ago some people live to work and other people work to live.
I guess you could say I am firmly encamped in the later.

This is me. Grumpy said "If you wanna go ahead and retire. Life is too short to put up with those clowns you work for." I said "Thank you. Love you baby." Hung up the phone, told the lawyers I was working for thank you for the opportunity but I'll not be back." Gathered up my stuff and left. It was heavenly.

Now that I've been retired for a few years I had gone back to work doing something I really liked. My recent accident has fubared that whole thing. I'm not sure I will ever be able to go back there. It's a really physical job and I'm not responding to my recent surgery or PT as well as I thought I would. Sucks but it is what it is. I'll figure something out to keep myself entertained within the physician limits I have now.

I love retirement!! We planned for it after working for 30+ years. We are blessed!!
My cousin said after his retirement that it was overrated. He didn't like retirement.
Have a friend that is still working part time at 74 yrs. He has money, doesn't need to.

Retired April Fools Day 2015 and people told me that after 31 years on the job I'd miss the job and the people.

They were wrong as.......
