Went out to my honey hole this weekend and found nothing. Hogs are tearing the place up pretty bad so I have question for those in the know... Do hogs forage for mushrooms?

Where do you find them? There is a small run off type creek that empties into the flood plain behind my house. I see willows, etc up there. Ant chance some are growing up there?

You'll get a 100 answers, just have to go look. I've got places that look exactly like where folks find tons, but my area doesn't and never has produced, and I've got places where people say don't waste your time and will find them.

I use to go hunt the red ones and the morels on the verdegris river and found the red beef steaks around red oaks (dead) and morels around dead elm trees I can’t figure them out in Osage county

This describes my experiences perfectly. There were none in our spots last weekend. Might go check today.

I am going to post the first pics for 2021. Rather dry in my area. In the ground 2 of us covered today, we would have filled our bags 3 times or more the last 2 years. Sure makes you appreciate the good years.
I just have a pic of my bounty.

Nice haul!!!:thumb:

I’m still new to morel hunting. I hit all my hot spots last week and struck out, but according to Hoddy, it’s still been to cold in my part of the state. There’s a chance I might make it back up this weekend, and if I do, I’ll check my spots again, since it’s supposed to be warmer this week.:anyone:

Ground temps in our area are good now. Get out there and hunt.
I have walked many miles over the years in Grant County and found zero. Thirty years of living in our place in the sticks, had morels show up last year in the yard for the first time. Picked them, put in a bucket of well water, and distributed the wash in the area they came up as well as along side of the split log rack. Nothing so far this year. Plenty of moisture in the ground so that is not the issue.
