As a general rule of thumb for me 10% below asking price is not a low ball offer. I may not sell or buy at that but it doesn’t offend me. Unless something is just posted for way more than it’s worth.

Ok... so where does an offer become a lowball in your opinion?

I didn't realize this would be such a hard question, especially when buyers are obviously expected to know.
:drunk2:

When the same monkey offers well bellow market on every sale. I’d buy a 92fs for 200 too, or a LNIB 686 for 350.

But that still doesn't answer the question. :anywho:

Do you agree with the 5% or 1O% mentioned? Or do you have a different lowball threshold?

This isn't a prank, I'm really wondering where the line is.

Just make the offers you want to make. If you aren't going to make any offers then no worries about it being a low ball offer.

It varies. That’s why you aren’t getting a definitive answer. I try to post them for what they are worth. Where interpretation of condition matters, that’s one thing. Offering 50 - 25% the value on lnib or nib items in high demand.... screw you.

I don't think you can define an absolute percentage without quantifying the individual seller. I would think there's a variable there depending on who sells what.

If I offer $5850 to a guy hawking an AK for $6500, he might take offense to that. All the same, a seller offering up a $200 Taurus might feel blessed someone offered him $125.

Well, I actually did get two answers (5% and 10%). Not a seller, but I've bought a few items on OSA.

It seems like the indignation over lowball offers is a fairly recent thing, but maybe I just haven't been paying attention.

Thanks for everyone's input.
