Yes but hes not ordering a truck and you will find Dana 60 or Dana 80 gears in different trucks. Disc brake size varies depending on year and that weighs in on load capacity.

New or used, if you have an f250 and an f350srw with the same Dana 50 or 60 in the front and the same Dana 80 or Sterling 10.5" in the rear, and the same spring package, the trucks are identical other than the badges and the spring perch block. Compare apples to apples.

I spent a good number of years wrenching on Ford diesels and have seen otherwise.
Different gears, brakes, injection systems (which doesnt effect loading but)....

I had a 6.0 for a couple years and it was a very reliable vehicle after it was done being unreliable. Plenty of power for towing. If you get a 6.0 and have someone do the work to get it running right. That work could be anywhere from $3k to $10k.

Read a little about Bill Hewitt's "dealerproofing" for the 6.0 and see if you're even interested in that route. His site is powerstrokehelp.com.

But stilll I wouldnt buy one that old, they had short transmission life. Dad bought one new in 96 and he had to get the tranny replaced at around 75K miles. He also added an aftermarket turbo. I think they went to turbo Powerstrokes in 97

Same here, and I can tell you the same axle sitting under two different badges with the same gear ratios will do the same thing because they are the same thing. There aren't different brakes for a f250 vs srwf350, there aren't different ring gear thicknesses between the two either, they are identical. 40-50y ago that was not the case, you could buy small and large bearing versions of the same axles. They also had different brake shoe sizes between the two.
