When in the first year college at Northern Okla College in Tonkawa Ok, I did a paper on obsolete laws around the country in one of the classes. It's interesting to see all of the comments. Makes me wonder if 100+ years ago when the "horseless carriage" was starting to take hold if the horse people stood around and talked about how bad the horseless carriages were? EV's are the next pivot, like them on not, that is the way it is going, just like the pivot to the "horseless carriage".
Surprisingly enough one of the best I found was in the very town I was going to school in.
Horseless carriages had to notify the chief of police before entering town. Upon entering, there had to be a human 100 yards ahead with a flag, firing a shotgun every distance, (I don't remember the distance) to alert people to control their horses.
I agree that we will probably go EV in the future.
I keep trying to see ways that they will not be, but it is the future I think.
Tech will keep improving the batteries and charging times.
We will still need more and more power plants as that tech improves to support the charging stations. 1 kilowatt of electricity is 1 kilowatt no matter how any charger works.
